WORK EXPERIENCE

ClickPoint Software - Tester and Debugger                                                                                       JANUARY 2020 - APRIL 2021

  • Tested software and reported issues, analyzed and verified bug reports

  • Edited and fixed knowledgebase articles to assist customers with using the software

  • Created automated testing scripts; sent HTTP requests to API for debugging

Corvus Robotics - Electronics and Power Systems Engineer   APRIL 2021 - PRESENT

  • Designed the motherboard for the next generation of computer vision industrial logistics drones, featuring an x86 CPU, PCI express, USB 2 and 3, a GPU, SATA 3.0, Gigabit Ethernet, and many other interfaces and standards. Engineered the electrical schematic, PCB and reduced cost via BOM simplification and consolidation.

  • Redesigned a landing pad controller by adding high-current power control MOSFETs and other features to save on wiring costs and fabrication lead time. Also swapped many chips to combat silicon shortage.

  • Designed a monolithic motor controller board with multiple DC-DC regulators and high-current connectors to reduce wiring and decrease lead time.

  • Improved manufacturing yield, lowered cost by 30% and reduced lead time for a multi-camera interface PCB for an autonomous UAV by selecting new connectors, rerouting portions of the board, and removing the need for back-drilled vias.

Quantica GmbH - Computer and Electronics Engineer, PCB Test Engineer                     MAY 2021 - PRESENT

  • Designed the electrical schematic and 14-layer PCB for a multi-camera streaming board for a large scale industrial 3D printer, featuring an NXP i.MX8M CPU, LPDDR4 memory, USB 3.0, PCI express, Gigabit Ethernet, HDMI and MIPI CSI-2.

  • Designed the electrical schematic and 4-layer PCB for a multi-camera streaming carrier board featuring multiple high-current power regulators and many high speed connectors, such as MIPI CSI+DSI and PCI express

  • Handled PCB fabrication, assembly, and testing in order to produce a functional and bootable system.

PROJECT EXPERIENCE

Circuit Layout and Electrical Designer - Mixed Signal, Power and RF

  • Currently in the process of designing a dual-socket server motherboard featuring 2 Ampere Altra Max processors, 16 channels of DDR4 memory, 192 PCI-e 4.0 lanes, a custom BMC, with support of up to 400A of current on VDDC_PCP and 400A of current combined on the DDR4 primary power rails

  • Designed a 14-layer single board computer with a quad core ARM Cortex-A53 TI-AM6548 processor, 4GB+ECC DDR4 memory, PCI express, eMMC flash, 3 Ethernet ports, and other subsystems to act as a supervisor drone control unit

  • Created an 8-layer single board computer with a single core ARM Cortex-A8 TI-AM3354 processor, 512MB DDR3 memory, 32GB eMMC flash, and other features to act as a flight algorithm drone control unit

  • Designed a 6-layer narrowband automotive-grade mmWave 77-81 GHz FMCW RADAR module with a TI-AWR1642 RFSoC and implemented proper GCPW and MIMO patch antenna design and geometric rules to ensure accurate distance readings. Implemented a long range Sub-GHz radio system with a TI CC1200 and external LNA/PA to achieve communications wirelessly over long distances.

  • Created a 3-phase 22.5kW BLDC motor driver and enclosure to feed high power brushless motors

  • Designed a USB Type-C bidirectional power delivery board, able to source up to 5V@3A and sink up to 20V@5A

  • Created an 100W bidirectional USB type C power delivery system for general purpose use

  • Experienced with different DC-DC switching regulators, including multiphase, DVFS and PMIC regulators

  • Experienced with PDN design including current loop analysis and familiarity with impedance profile tuning

Server Technician and HPC Orchestrator - Ubuntu Linux, System Administrator

  • Constructed and tested multiple servers built from low-cost components from online retailers

  • Performed CFD cases on turbine designs utilizing multiple servers and GPU accelerators

  • Strong skills with Linux command line and Linux system management

VR Programmer - C / C++

  • Programmed an application for VR to use a camera to switch between contexts, from VR, AR and vision passthrough

  • Utilized OpenHMD, OpenXR, Monado and OpenCV on an NVIDIA Jetson Nano to drive an HTC Vive

UCI CubeSat Team - Avionics Engineer / Avionics Hardware Lead                                                   SEPTEMBER 2020 - JANUARY 2022

  • Designed an avionics system which included the onboard computer and data storage hardware

  • Researched and traded various deterministic and recursive algorithms for attitude control and detumbling

  • Determined required computational requirements of control system; selected proper microcontrollers to suit the task with various system constraints and designed the schematic and PCB
